Programme Overview
Students admitted to pursue research degrees in Tropical Crop Protection have the opportunity to specialise further in plant pathology and virology, nematology, weed science and entomology. Current research involves the study of biology, epidemiology, identification and reporting of emerging pests and diseases, and development of sustainable pest and disease management practices.

AGRI 6400 Internship (3-6 month attachment related to research project)
AGRI 7001 MPhil in Tropical Crop Protection (Thesis only)
AGRI 8001 PhD in Tropical Crop Protection (Thesis with oral examination)

DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to Faculty requirements, students admitted for advanced research degrees in the department are required to take and pass the following two courses
AGRI 6620 Statistics
AGBU 6301 Research Methodology
All postgraduate research students are required to present at least two seminars on their work at the MPhil level and three seminars at the PhD level. These seminars will be examined and graded on a “pass” or “fail” basis.
Entry Requirements
To enter into this programme, you must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 or an Upper Second Class Honours degree or its equivalent.
