The Bachelor of Education

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Primary Education Degree

This restructured Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Primary Education Degree programme includes courses that are more relevant in response to advances in technology and societal transformations aligned with the vision of the current national curriculum.  Practicum exposure has been expanded to provide trainee teachers with more opportunities to hone their classroom teaching and classroom management skills.  The changes have necessitated the transition of the previous 3-year (93-credit) programme into a 4-year (133-credit) programme which provides trainees with ample opportunity to assimilate and internalize as well as to adequately experience classroom realities and nuances.

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Primary Education Degree programme offers education and training in pedagogy, pedagogical content knowledge, content knowledge, technology integration, digital literacies, and the integrated delivery of the curriculum. This programme is now structured over a four (4) year period comprised of 43 courses with 133 credits.

Please note that this programme will be offered in semesters I and II only and will include lectures between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

To learn more about the programme, check out the recording of the "Ask UWI about the Bachelor of Education – Primary” online session, which was held on June 12, 2025.
