Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Tertiary Education in Leadership and Institutional Effectiveness

The Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Tertiary Education in Leadership and Institutional Effectiveness programme has been developed to meet the need identified in the tertiary education sector for personnel with management, supervisory and leadership competencies who are able to engage in transformational change and support the development of their institutions.

Target Audience

  • Persons holding management and professional positions (e.g. Directors, Managers, Heads of Department, Unit Leaders, Coordinators)
  • Persons who do not hold these positions officially but have been functioning in a related tertiary education work environment, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Admission Requirements/Exemptions

  • A candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree at the lower second-class honours level, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a tertiary education organisation will normally be required.
  • Persons with a bachelor’s degree in business, education, law, management, or the social sciences will be primarily considered for admission but holders of bachelor’s degrees in other areas may be considered on a case by case basis.
  • Persons who are senior managers, senior academics or policy-makers who wish to pursue the programme and who hold an appropriate postgraduate qualification such as a diploma, master’s or earned doctoral degree in an area related to the programme may apply for exemptions for up to twelve credits. If granted, such exemptions will normally be from the postgraduate diploma segment of the programme.
