Dr. Pierre obtained a PhD in Educational Leadership in 1994 from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, after completing a MEd in School Counseling in 1990 at the University of Maryland, and a BSc with Honours in Psychology in 1988 at Howard University. She spearheaded the development of the MEd in Youth Guidance. Outside of the UWI, she is also Coordinator and Principal of Trinity All Generations Steel (TAGS) and School of the Arts. Her research interests focus on Human Development, especially adolescence and its impact on the functioning of youth in the school system, and on education and how to improve the teaching/learning process.
