Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a PhD or equivalent from a recognized university, which should be in Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy Administration or a closely related field.

Candidates should also possess: 

  • At least five (5) years relevant teaching experience
  • Substantial research and publications in reputable, peer reviewed journals
  • Experience in supervision of student research projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of academic pharmacy

 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage: 

  • MPharm, MPhil or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy
  • ASHP accredited: Residency [Postgraduate Year 1 and/or Postgraduate Year 2] or Fellowship which includes Licensure with the Pharmacy Board of respective country
  • Post-Doctoral experience
  • Publications in books, posters, conference papers
  • Experience in MPhil/PhD student supervision 
  • Experience with course management, lecture delivery and related software
  • Experience in conducting examinations and other assessments
  • Prior experience in teaching and supervising students in diverse areas related to Clinical Pharmacy Practice or Pharmacy Administration
  • Research interest in clinical aspects of Pharmacy, experiential education and ACPE accreditation standards related to curriculum and experiential education

 The following would be considered assets: 
  • PharmD
  • Registration with the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
  • Prior experience as a faculty member at a school or college of Pharmacy at a recognized University
  • Extramural or intramural research grants

 

Candidates must be registered or be able to register with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago. 

 

Special Responsibilities 
  • Participating in expanding new educational platforms, including integration of technology and active learning
  • Demonstrating leadership and initiative in supporting School’s assessment and accreditation efforts
  • Contributing to and participating in the work of the School of Pharmacy and the University by serving on committees, attending meetings and retreats, and other activities as appropriate
  • Maintaining student office hours and advising pre-pharmacy and pharmacy students
  • Teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in various subjects
  • Developing and setting up Pharmacy Practice laboratory
  • Participating in Departmental and Faculty seminars 
  • Contributing to Departmental, Faculty or University-wide working groups or committees
