The UWI Games 2026 was officially launched on April 16, 2026 at The UWI St. Augustine Academy of Sport (UWI SPEC), marking the return of one of the Caribbean’s premier inter-campus sporting events.

The launch brought together key members of The UWI community, including Campus Principal Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, Deputy Principal and Chair of the UWI Games Organising Committee Professor Derek Chadee, Guild President Mr. Vedanand Hargobin, and Head of the Academy of Sport Dr. Anand Rampersad. Remarks were also delivered via video by Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles and Deputy Principal of The UWI Cave Hill Campus Professor Winston Moore.

The event set the tone for the Games with major announcements, including the official competition schedule and the introduction of exhibition matches in Women’s Cricket and Badminton. These updates added to the excitement and offered an early preview of the talent, energy, and competitive spirit to come.

Scheduled for May 21 to 29, 2026, the UWI Games will bring together over 575 student-athletes from across the region for a week of sport, camaraderie, and Caribbean pride.
