    Chemical and Process Engineering

Stepping into my field, I was faced with many people asking me “You sure you going to get a job with that degree?”. By hearing that, I jumped at the opportunity that the C3 Department was offering, World of Work. This program equipped me with valuable lessons for entering the workforce, along with critiques to my existing resume and interview skills. One of my fondest memories from this program had to have been the Mock Interviews. I remember entering that room and was amazed by how organised and professional this event was. However, my favourite part of the program was definitely the Recruitment Fair. I consider it one of the most successful parts of the program because the turnout was incredible, not only the students but the companies. There were companies there that I had not even heard of, and they all willingly accepted my resume. I would encourage anyone to join and be a participant of the World of Work. They work tirelessly to ensure that each student gets that one-on-one attention that he/she deserves.

The World of Work Program has been extremely helpful to me. From preparing for an interview, to resume building, this has been key in helping me navigate the World of Work. It has also exposed me to key networking opportunities. The transition to a virtual set-up was executed seamlessly. Being the first virtual WOW Program, I must say it exceeded my expectations. in addition to the added convenience. I would highly recommend this program to Final Year Students.

The World of Work (WOW) program was truly a game changer for me in preparing to face the outside world upon completion of my undergraduate degree. The many discussions and information sessions targeted at preparing resumes and preparing for interviews, among others, made me feel more confident entering the real world as a young professional. I really appreciated the one-on-one resume writing sessions as it helped me put together a resume, I would not have been able to put together on my own and the mock interview session helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses in such a setting. These skills will be essential as I continue to grow and develop career-wise.

    Our Philosphy

We help students to become the distinctive UWI graduate; one who is a critical thinker, problem solver, effective communicator, team player and leader. By participating in these programmes, students are likely to become more competent, information technology skilled, and socially and culturally responsive. As a result, I think participants got more personalised attention, which was much appreciated.
