Overcoming Challenges to Developing Sustainable Agri-food systems in the Tropics

Host

On January 7, 1947 the provisional Council, assembled for its first meeting in the house of the British Council in Jamaica to decide on this site for the new university. Some six decades later, UWI celebrates its 60th Anniversary and commitment to the development of the Caribbean people. UWI celebrates the achievements of UWI graduates over the years and contributions and accomplishments of the University as a premier tertiary institution. The University of the West Indies and its predecessor the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture has been in the forefront of tropical agriculture research and education for many decades.  Furthermore, the University of the West Indies publishes the international journal “Tropical Agriculture” and has done so uninterruptedly for 82 years.  It is hence appropriate that an International Congress of this nature be staged at the UWI during its 60th Anniversary Celebrations.
