Joyce Gibson Innis-Hall
The
Joyce Gibson Inniss Hall is a co-ed Hall of Residence
at the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the
West Indies situated on the compound of the Eric Williams
Medical Sciences Complex, Mount Hope , fifteen minutes
away from the main campus and within close proximity
to the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Hospital
Facilities.
Brief History:
Built from funds donated by the European Union, the
Hall which is named after the former Campus Domestic
Bursar and the first Hall Administrator, Mrs. Joyce
Gibson-Inniss, was opened in 1995, and named in 2001.
Facilities:
This Hall is fashioned along a villa style concept,
housing 204 students. Surrounded by lush green gardens,
each floor of the 14 two-storeyed and 2 three-storeyed
buildings is a fully furnished six-bedroom apartment,
wired for telephone services. The Hall also houses
a computer room with internet access that is free
of charge to residents.
Extra Curricula Activities:
The multi-ethnicity and diverse cultural heritage
of our residents make for a richness of social experiences
and learning which become evident at our unique orientation
programme with its culture clash, our Hall concerts,
annual dinners and other formal and informal gatherings.
Our participation in various campus sporting, debating
and other competitions has met with repeated success.
