The Career Advice Programme (CAP) is an introductory programme which provides students with information and advice on career exploration and planning. Students are provided with much needed tips and guidelines on this process by exposing them to career assessments, labour market trends and career options related to their major. It also provides information on how students can strategically optimize their time at The University to be best positioned upon graduation to start or continue on their career journey.

The programme is organised into the following main sessions:

  1. A large group presentation, Career Planning 101 which shares information on the importance of setting career goals, how to develop a career plan and how to begin preparing for your entry into the working world. It also includes information on our career programmes and services, employment opportunities and shares resources on, ‘What Can I do With My Major?’.
  2. A career assessment which uses a behavioral assessment approach to assess a student's interests, skills, values and personality, and further assists in the career exploration and planning process. See SIGI 3  information link provided below.
  3. Receipt of the Three Year + Plan booklet that guides students on how to best navigate their time at The University to ensure that they are intentional in the activities and experiences that campus opens them up to allowing them to build upon as well as gain the skills and competencies that prepare them for the workplace.
