Academic Advising Philosophy

Academic Advising is a vital educational process by which students are given accurate information and guidance in order to facilitate their development and the skills required to navigate towards their career, and personal development goals and objectives.  This guidance is done in an empathetic and sensitive manner by listening to and understanding students’ concerns which may be personal, emotional, financial, psychological, or course/program-related. A good academic advisor is a good listener and motivator who ensures that students benefit from their educational experience.  Such an advisor is also student-friendly and helps students to build their self-confidence towards making their own decisions about their individual goals.
