Global Citizenship Dialogue: One on One with Kees Dieffenthaller and Klase

The GCDs project is a forum for discussing matters of global importance with a focus on civic-mindedness and international citizenship. It takes the form of a series of one -on- one discussion in front of a live audience, between guests of international prominence and accomplishment, together with the Director of the UWI’s Office of International Office. The GCDs are targeted primarily to an audience of young adults with the expectation that the personalities invited and issues discussed will appeal to them and resonate with their innate leadership, civic and scholastic intelligence.

On Thursday 1st December, 2011 the OIAI invited the Campus community to its “Global Citizenship Dialogue: One on One with Kees Dieffenthaller” at Daaga Auditorium, UWI. Kees is the lead singer of Kes the Band, one of the top soca bands in Trinidad & Tobago. The conversation with Kees focused on his past, present and future, musical influences over the years, the direction of his career in the soca music industry and his opinions concerning current issues affecting Trinidad & Tobago and the world. Talented producer Klase also participated on stage by creating a 2012 soca music track according to the general vibes he received from the Dialogue and the audience. At the end of the Dialogue, Kees answered various questions from the audience and treated them to a live performance. The International Office then presented him and Klase with gifts of “World Citizen” shirts.
