Desktop Systems Purchasing
The provision of a cost effective service for procurement of PCs and laptops including the CITS Renewal Programme. This contract is closely monitored for performance and value and is designed to leverage the combined purchasing power of the University to maximize the benefits to all through the provision of quality equipment at the optimum price. A wide range of machines are available, with 'university standard' models being based upon enterprise class systems.
CITS will:
- Negotiate a favorable purchasing contract with major tier 1 suppliers for PCs
- Regularly review pricing structures for competitiveness
- Establish a set of standard configurations and allow for special customer requirements
- Set up a procurement process to supply PCs to an agreed lead time
- Organize delivery to the customer of pre-configured machines
- Provide customers with advice on choice of machines
- Research and evaluate new desktop technologies and recommend their use in University
Customers will:
- Wherever possible adhere to University standards in purchasing choices for IT equipment
- Follow University procedures for ordering equipment
- Seek advice from CITS regarding the most suitable choice of systems to ensure longer term compatibility and maintainability for University systems
- Provide accurate and reliable information including contact details to suppliers for delivery
