We are pleased to inform you of that the 21st IACA conference will be hosted by the Department of History, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine between July 24 and 30, 2005. The conference will be held in the Auditorium of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) of the University.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PAPER SUBMISSIONS

  1. Each presenter will be allowed a maximum of 15 minutes including the reading of the text and the presentation of slides and and/or other audio-visual material.
  2. Each presenter may present only one paper as principal author and one as co-author.
  3. Each presentation must be an original work, which should preferably reflect recent investigations related to Caribbean archaeology (based on one of the above themes of the conference).
  4. The abstracts of all papers, written in either English, French or Spanish, should not exceed 150 words. The titles and abstracts must be submitted on or before April 30, 2005 to ensure presentation at the XXI Congress.
  5. The complete texts of the presentations must not exceed 10 double-spaced pages and must be submitted in the language they will be read in on or before May 20, 2005 for the benefit of the simultaneous interpreters.
  6. The authors/ presenters are required to indicate the type of audio-visual equipment, which will be needed for their presentations.
  7. The authors are required to submit, together with the abstracts and the full texts, a brief resume, which must include academic preparation, experience, involvement in Caribbean archaeological research and institutional affiliation, if any.
  8. Only the authors or co-authors may read their papers at the Congress. Proxies will not be allowed to make presentations.
  9. Participants wishing to make visual presentations (posters) must submit the title and abstract of no more than 150 words on or before April 30, 2005.
  10. We will appreciate if you could send the titles, abstracts and papers via e-mail. If you are unable to do this and prefer to send it via regular mail, please send the electronic version of the paper on a diskette in a MSWord format.

PUBLICATION OF PAPERS

  1. IACA Board will allow both professionals and amateurs to make presentations at the XX1 Congress in Trinidad and Tobago.
  2. However, all papers will be subsequently peer reviewed by an IACA Editorial Review Committee, which may or may not accept all papers for publication.
