Academic certificates are issued only for language-based courses (inclusive of cumulative hours earned in Business Mandarin, Mandarin Chinese and Intensive Mandarin). The certificates are issued according to the number of contact hours accumulated at the Confucius Institute:

Please note that eligibility for an academic certificate is subject to completion of the final course assessment.
Only participants with at least a 75% attendance of the sessions will be entitled to receive these certificates.
Certificates are not issued for completion of the Tai Chi, Chinese Calligraphy or HSK Prep classes.All certificates will be delivered digitally until further notice.
Students may request official records for Chinese language and culture courses (with the exception of HSK Prep courses). Official records are generally available five (5) working days after they have been requested. Requests must be submitted to Confucius@sta.uwi.edu and include the following information:
The Confucius Institute at the UWI St. Augustine reserves the right to cancel any class if it does not meet the minimum quota of 10 students. The Confucius Institute may also cancel a class due to an unforeseen circumstance that would directly affect the running of the class, e.g. a public holiday or a major cultural event hosted by the Institute. In this event, a make-up class will be arranged between students and the teacher.
A student can apply for a refund if he/she cannot continue attending classes. To apply for the refund, the student must bring the original receipt into the Confucius Institute and provide the staff with a mailing address. No refund can be issued without an original receipt. The refund cheque will be issued within 3-4 weeks from submission of the receipt. Refund cheques can be collected at the Cashier, Bursary, Old Administration Building, the UWI St. Augustine campus. The refund should be requested within the first three weeks of the commencement of classes. All refund applications made outside this period are subject to a processing fee of TT$50.
A Confucius Institute student is allowed to use the learning resources in the Confucius Institute Reading Room from Monday to Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. All students using the reading room must sign the register form upon arrival. A student may borrow books and materials at the discretion of the Confucius Institute.
