The Alternative Break
The UWI Alternative Break consists of an extended weekend to a week-long period of community service, either locally or more often regionally. These trips provide opportunities for students who are interested in travel abroad, volunteer opportunities and alternative volunteer experiences to find fulfilment during their time away from traditional classroom activities. These trips are open to all students but preference is given to students who demonstrate a history of volunteerism and community involvement. The trip involves rigorous pre-departure sessions and student-led fundraising activities which focus on team building and leadership, background research on the countries and communities to be visited, and local community engagement activities.
Join us in the Alternative Break 2024: The St Lucia Experience 2.0 from the 15th to the 20th of May 2024.
