Mentorship has been a proven way to allow people to learn the wisdom and gain the advice of those who went before them. Similarly, career mentoring is an opportunity for students to learn the ins and outs of work life from a seasoned professional. This includes not only the point of view of a certain job or field, but how to grow professionally, how to achieve work life balance, and how to navigate the working world after graduation.  These are just a few examples of some of the valuable information a student can gain through interacting with a career mentor. You and your mentor can decide on other approaches to get you to where you need to be. The department has a list of available mentors waiting to assist you  in this regard.
