Job Shadowing
Part of the career planning process is research and exploration. This goes beyond job research, as it incorporates learning through experiences such as a job shadowing opportunity. Job shadowing is liaising with a professional who is currently working in a job or field that you are considering as a career choice. Arrangements are made with a professional for the student to spend some time on the job, to get a firsthand experience of what that job entails. It is also an opportunity to ask the working professional questions about the field or the job and build a network. Not all jobs are suitable for job shadowing, but if you are interested in learning about a certain profession through this method, this may be an option.
