About this Programme

The Certificate in Human Ecology is a multidisciplinary 1-year programme that exposes students to a basic understanding of the areas of Human Ecology. Student’s pursuing this programme can matriculate into BSc programs in the areas of Human Ecology obtaining exemptions in specific courses.

Entry Requirements

To engage in the Certificate in Human Ecology you must satisfy the following specific subject requirements:

• Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency (Grades I-III) or GCE O-levels or their equivalent, which must include English Language, Mathematics, and;

• Any two (2) of the following: Chemistry, Biology, Human and Social Biology, Integrated Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Food and Nutrition and Health, Textiles, Clothing and Fashion, Physics, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Principles of Business Accounting, foreign language and

• Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) LEVEL 1 equivalent in technical vocation subjects

• ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Candidates who do not possess a pass in CSEC English A at Grades I, II or since 1998, Grade III, a Grade A in GCE O’ Level/BGCSE English Language, would be required to pass the English Language Proficiency Test offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

• MATHEMATICS: Candidates who do not possess a pass in CSEC Mathematics at Grades I, II or since 1998, Grade III, a Grade A in GCE O’ Level/BGCSE Mathematics, would be required to pass the Course IYMS 1001/ MATH 0103: Improving Your Math Skills offered at Open Campus.
