INTE 5002 Simultaneous Interpretation

In a conference setting with professional equipment, interpreters must be familiar with microphones and consoles as well as with vocal techniques (Booth). In an outdoor or roving configuration, Interpreters need to be able to perform their task without the help of interpretation equipment (Whispering).

At the end of this course, students will be able to do the following:

• Operate interpretation consoles
• Switch from A-language to B-language in a small team configuration where interpreters are required to work into as well as from their native language
• Control vocal production (speed, tone, pitch, delay from speaker).
