INTE 5004 Practicum

Since this is a professional course that intends to prepare students to be functional once they graduate, it is important that they get the opportunity to work in one or more events organised in Trinidad & Tobago by the CITB (Caribbean Interpreting and Translation Bureau) of the UWI or at other events in real-life situations.

At the end of this exercise, students will be able to do the following:

• Perform Booth and/or Whispering Interpreting in their native language from one or more foreign languages (and into a foreign language from their mother tongue only if they feel competent);
• Be comfortable, in a conference environment, with the equipment and the terminology acquired during training;
• Be composed and confident in a real-life situation.

Assessment: Pass or Fail according to performance in real-life or mock conference.
