The University of the West Indies (UWI) offers an exciting academic environment with centres of excellence in all of its faculties. The University has four physical campuses in Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago as well as the Open Campus - an online Campus.
The School of Dentistry is one of the five schools of theFaculty of Medical Sciences, St. Augustine, the others being the schools of medicine, veterinary science, advanced nursing education and pharmacy. Dental Students are accorded the unique opportunity to have meaningful interaction with students from these professional schools, thereby enhancing their interprofessional knowledge of the broad field of medical sciences.
The school's campus is located at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Champs Fleurs.
The School of Dentistry is well equipped with state-of-the-art dental equipment, and has ample clinical teaching space, lecture rooms and laboratories and a student recreation room. A well-stocked Medical Sciences Library is on site with a Students' Computer Laboratory providing access to the Internet and literature search facilities.
The dental school has numerous laboratories for different teaching, learning and research functions. These include the phantom head lab, research labs, casting room, prosthetics lab, plaster room, ceramics room and oral hygiene lab.
Students learn clinical dentistry in the Adult Polyclinic, the Paediatric Clinic, the Special Needs Dentistry Clinic, The Oral Surgery Clinics, Medical and Surgical Wards, and the Operating Theatre.
