Entry Requirements
Admission Criteria The number of qualified applicants to The UWI-SVM greatly exceeds the number of available places. Thus, admission is highly competitive. Because of this, we cannot offer admission to all students with impressive academic and personal records.
5-Year DVM Prior to matriculation at The UWI-SVM, you should have completed the programmes which, in your home country, would have prepared you for entrance to a university in that country. For Caribbean students this means that you must have attained passes in at least five (5) subjects at CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency (Grades I or II and from 1998 Grade III) or approved equivalents, which must include English Language and Mathematics. You should also sit for national external examinations and submit your scores for those examinations as part of your credentials for admission to The UWI-SVM:
Proficiency in English Since English is the language of instruction at The UWI-SVM, it is essential that you demonstrate competence in the language. You must be able to understand rapid, idiomatic Standard English as spoken in the classroom, have the ability to express thoughts quickly and clearly in both spoken and written English, and read the language with ease. This proficiency must be achieved before you are admitted. If your native language is not English, the University requires that you submit the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as evidence that your English proficiency is satisfactory for study at The UWI-SVM. |
