Dr. Karene-Anne Nathaniel is a Lecturer in Social Work in the Department of Behavioural Sciences with a PhD in Social Work (emphasis on Social Work education) from the University of the West Indies St Augustine. She is the President of the North American and Caribbean Association of Schools of Social Work (2016-2020), interim President of the Association of Caribbean Social Work Educators, former Vice President/Treasurer of the Association of Caribbean Social Work Educators, and regional Vice-President of the International Association of Schools of Social Work (2016-2020). She is currently leading efforts towards the development of standards for Caribbean social work education and a Caribbean code of ethics for social workers.

Research Interests
- Any and all contemporary social issues are of interest to her especially with regards to how to train professionals to respond effectively
- She is very concerned about the status of the social work profession and the conditions of practice in Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean region.
