COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course will provide the knowledge needed to formulate a sound but basic understanding of Information Technology, its major components and its broad applications. Students will acquire hands-on experience with computers. They will become familiar with the components of a computer and learn about the various elements that make up an information system. The course deals with hardware, software, telecommunications and computer networks. General Topics: The Technology Revolution; Inside the Computer; Information Input and Output; Storing and Retrieving Information; Software; Networks and Networking; Internet and The Web. Practical Topics: Microsoft Package 2002 - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Front Page.
