BIOL 3468 Biodiversity and Conservation
Course Description
This course introduces students to one of the most important issues facing biologists and society at large today and in the coming decades: the enormous loss of biological diversity that accompanies the expansion of human populations. The objectives of this course are to provide students with an understanding of biodiversity, the threats to it and methods for preventing its loss. The perspective will be primarily biological, but social and economic aspects will be covered also. Because of the complexity of the issues involved, the course tries to foster interdisciplinary thinking and problem solving.
