Course Description

This course develops student competence in the biology of reef-building corals, the ecology of coral communities, and the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on coral reefs in the context of the Caribbean region. In addition students are introduced to the ecosystem-based approach to reef management and to the economic valuation of reefs. Throughout the course the emphasis will be on the Caribbean and the interconnectedness of reefs throughout the region, however, comparisons will be made to reefs from other regions.
