The Odonata are large predatory insects which catch their insect prey using their excellent eyesight and flying skills. There are around 6,500 species around the world.

Trinidad & Tobago Odonata

The local dragonflies and damselflies are a very well known group with extensive work done by John Michalski who published a guidebook in 2015. Over 120 species have been recorded on the two islands. 

UWIZM Collections

In the collection there is one cabinet of odonata with over 370 specimens representing eight families.

Aeshnidae, Calopterygidae, Coenagrionidae, Gomphidae, Lestidae, Libellulidae, Protoneuridae, Pseudostigmatidae
