Celebrating 60 Years

As a result of the preliminary feasibility analyses, an international agreement was signed on January 7th 1966, between the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the Swiss Confederation, through which the Institute of International Relations was formally established at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. The Constitution was also drafted at this time. Construction of the building was completed in summer of that year (1966) and teaching began in the academic year of 1966-1967. IIR was officially opened on February Ith 1967 by Her Royal Highness Princess Alice, Chancellor of The UWI.
