From June 1st to 5th, 2025, the Association of Caribbean Historians held its 56th Annual Conference, embracing the theme “Multilingual Connections and Under-Represented Geographies.” A highlight of the event was the celebration of Professor Bridget Brereton, recognising her remarkable contributions to both local and regional history over the past fifty years. This celebration culminated in the launch of a book in her honour, titled “History Matters: Reassembling the Fragments of a Contested Past – In Honour of Bridget Brereton,” which took place on June 3rd. The book is edited by Dr Rita Pemberton, Dr Heather Cateau, and Dr Ronald Noel. The conference brought together historians, academics, and writers from around the world to engage in vibrant panel discussions on a wide range of topics vital to our ongoing conversations about the Caribbean.
