The Campus partnered with the Women in Data Science Trinidad and Tobago (WiDSTT) and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) to host a Data Science Forum entitled “Empowering Women to Harness the Power of Data: Inspiring Inclusion” on March 15th, 2024. The forum was a comprehensive initiative focused on promoting gender diversity and empowerment within the data field and raising awareness of the experiences of women in Data Science.
The event featured presentations and discussions with women from different industries, career stages, and regions in data science-related fields. The forum also acted as a commemoration of International Women’s Day (celebrated on March 08th, 2024), where Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields related to data science were promoted. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of having a community effort to support women in various domains and provided an opportunity for both men and women to support each other.
Presentations covered topics on Building Capacities in Data Science, Demystifying STEM Pathways, Intersection of Engineering and Data Science and Data-Driven Healthcare and its impact on Caribbean populations through an all-female panel discussion and Q&A session.
