The Campus received an invitation from the Member of Parliament for Moruga/Tableland, Ms Michelle Benjamin, to participate in the Moruga/Tableland Community Day on March 19th, 2024, at the Lengua Islamia T.I.A. Primary School. We were pleased to accept this gracious invitation that perfectly aligns with our University’s Triple A Strategy to extend our outreach to rural communities and broaden Access and opportunities for all citizens to receive quality tertiary education. This represented another opportunity for the Campus to move research from the classrooms and labs to the local communities, where a diverse range of innovative programmes and initiatives were showcased.
Seven Faculties of the Campus, Engineering, Food and Agriculture, Humanities and Education, Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, Science and Technology, and Sport, were present at the event. The Campus proudly shared samples of various products, from the University Field Station (UFS), high-quality chilled milk to limited samples of Biophyt 1.0, an innovative organic pesticide that provides a biological alternative to hazardous pesticides and enhances plant growth.
Additionally, the Campus provided various health services, including health talks and blood pressure testing. There were games, quizzes, and many more activities that delighted the Moruga/Tableland community members of all ages.
