On June 3rd, a landmark partnership was established between the St Augustine Campus and the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) with the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs). The ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Honourable Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Professor Prakash Persad, and several distinguished professors from UTT.
One significant MOU establishes a five-year collaboration between the Department of Mechanical Engineering and UTT’s Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Entrepreneurship Unit, focusing on areas such as manufacturing, mechatronics, innovation and student development. The other two MOUs foster partnerships between the Department of Chemical Engineering and UTT’s Biosciences, Agriculture and Food Technologies Programme, addressing energy systems and environmental concerns, as well as collaborations on food security and public health with our School of Veterinary Medicine.
These agreements strategically position Trinidad and Tobago to tackle external challenges, foster innovation, and prepare students to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
