The main goal of Research Day 2022 is to promote the research of the FFA reflecting the theme and thematic tracks within our main focal areas of Food Production, Entrepreneurship, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Human Ecology, the Environment and Geography. This will be useful to our stakeholders in an era of increasing uncertainties globally that are expected to have tremendous negative impacts on food production, food availability and access, nutrition and the environment. Given the food import pattern in CARICOM, our populations are at increased risk for food and nutrition insecurity. It will continue to reinforce among all stakeholders (including students) that the FFA is the premier and relevant body in the region for agri-food-environment research.

This year’s Research Day will be held on February 9th, 2023 under the theme “Ensuring food and nutrition security in an era of global uncertainty: implications for consumer health, local food production, the environment and trade.”
Thematic tracks will be as follows:
Thematic track 1 : Consumer practice and perception with implications for food safety and health
Thematic track 2 : Climate resilience agricultural practices.
Thematic track 3 : Regional farm-led agricultural practices.

Sessions would include presentations from external stakeholders (e.g. The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association, The Trinidad and Tobago Supermarket Association, The Caribbean Supermarket Association, Trinidad and Tobago Board of Nutrition and Dietetics, IICA, FAO, The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and The Agricultural Society)

The FFA will produce a booklet titled “Faculty of Food and Agriculture Research Digest 2022”. This booklet will consist of short summaries of research work completed within the last 2 to 3 years, as well as on-going research, and provide a list of published research (APA style) addressing the above theme and thematic tracks. While the focus will be on relevant and impactful Caribbean research from projects, BSc, MSc, MPhil and PhD research work relevant to the theme and thematic tracks will also be included. The Research Digest will be a full-color, 8.5” by 5.5” booklet (e-book and print) of about 100-120 pages with about 75-100 extended abstracts.
