Dr. Bain holds a BA History with minors in Psychology and International Relations and a PhD History, both from The UWI St Augustine. She was the UWI Faculty of Humanities and Education Valedictorian, a recipient of the Elsa Goveia Memorial Scholarship and a Rhodes Scholarship finalist in 2016. Her doctoral thesis highlighted the agency of Latin-Caribbean actors in the Cold War epoch. Dr Bain lectures in Latin American History courses at the UWI St Augustine.
