FACULTY BOARD AND FACULTY COMMITTEES

The Faculty Board and Committees occupy a special place in the Faculty. They connect administration, teaching, learning and research.

FHE Committees that Students should be aware of, there are several committees in the Faculty, comprising a cross-section of faculty members, senior administrative and professional staff and student representatives from the Guild of Students. These are as follows:-

 

Entrance Committee

The purpose of the Entrance Committee is to assess the qualifications of applicants for entry into The UWI and, in particular, into the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

 

Faculty Prize Award Planning Committee

The purpose of the Faculty Prize Award Planning Committee is to organize the Annual Prize Award Ceremony and to treat with matters regarding award recipients and donors of the prizes.

 

Distance and Outreach Committee

The purpose of the Distance and Outreach Committee is to administer the distance and outreach activities of the Faculty, oversee the Faculty’s Staff and Student International Programmes, coordinate and oversee the Faculty’s Summer Programme and interface with the Office of Institutional Advancement and Internationalisation.

 

Postgraduate Staff Student Liaison Committee (PGSSLC)

The PGSSLC provides a voice and platform for graduate students to raise concerns about their academic curriculum and other non-academic concerns.

 

Departmental Undergraduate Staff Student Liaison Committees

These committees provide a voice and platform for Undergraduate students to raise concerns about their academic curriculum and other non-academic concerns.

 

FHE Health and Safety Committee

The purpose of the FHE Health and Safety Committee is to consider the actions required to ensure that the Faculty is a safe place for its staff and students. Its purpose is to also ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and best practice in Occupational Health and Safety.
