Conference on the Economy 2021: Accelerating Caribbean Development - Retooling and Restructuring Caribbean Economies Post COVID
WELCOME
The Conference on the Economy (COTE) is an annual landmark event of the Department of Economics at which findings from quality research by academic staff, students and other collaborators are presented to inform stakeholders on economic and social policy issues. The theme of the COTE this year is Accelerating Caribbean Development - Retooling and Restructuring Caribbean Economies Post COVID-19.
This year’s conference is scheduled for November 24 – 26, 2021 via Zoom.
Conference presentations will be organised along the following sub-themes/ Sectors:
- Manufacturing
- Energy and Renewables
- New Agriculture
- The Blue Economy
- Cultural Industries

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Abstracts should be submitted as an MS word attachment via the email cote@sta.uwi.edu by October 15th, 2021.
Soft copies will be due by November 15th.
YOUTH EVENTS
The COTE Activities are a major feature of the Conference on the Economy (COTE), is used to engage secondary and tertiary students on issues of economic importance, allowing them to both identify the challenges and opportunities for development
COTE 2021 also seeks to highlight the contribution of a youth-centric approach to Caribbean development by engaging secondary and tertiary students on issues of economic importance. This allows them to identify the challenges and opportunities for development. COTE 2021 Youth Activities comprise the following:
- COTE Youth Armchair Debate October 14th, 2021
- COTE Youth Debate Knockoff Competition October 21st, 2021. Finals November 11th, 2021
- COTE Youth Graduation Digital Poster Competition November 22nd, 2021
- COTE Virtual Debate Competition
COTE Pre-Cnference Event: Graphic Poster Competition
You are invited to submit your abstracts in line with the theme of the Conference on the Economy -“Accelerating Caribbean Development - Retooling and Restructuring Caribbean Economies Post COVID-19.”
Scheduled for 1:00pm on the 22nd November 2021. This is your opportunity to showcase your research.
Abstracts should be submitted as a MS Word attachment via e-mail to cote@sta.uwi.edu by October 22nd, 2021.
