- Genetic Improvement of anthurium, sugarcane, cocoa, tomato through breeding and biotechnology
- Conservation and sustainable use of tropical plant biodiversity
- Inheritance of characteristics of economic importance in crop plants grown in the humid tropics
- Understanding the genetic basis for stress and disease resistance in tropical plants
- Studying genotype-environmental interactions associated with tropical plants
