Professor Andy Knight was recognized with honorary Doctor of Law honoris causa (LL.D)
Professor W. Andy Knight, past Director of the Institute of International Relations (IIR) and co-founder of the Diplomatic Academy of the Caribbean was recognized by McMaster University with an honorary Doctor of Law honoris causa (LL.D) on June 14, 2023.
Prof. Knight who is Distinguished professor at the University of Alberta was appointed as the inaugural Provost Fellow, Black Excellence and Leadership.
Prof. Knight recently received two University of Alberta Faculty of Arts outstanding awards. The first was for his Fulbright Fellowship (Fulbright Distinguished Chair in International and Area Studies) at Yale University (2021-22) and the second for the award of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for his outstanding contributions to academic work in the province of Alberta.
Prof. Knight is a globally recognized leader in the study of international organization, global governance and human security. His extraordinary academic career has consisted of prolific and innovative research and a remarkable record of public engagement in Canada, the Caribbean and beyond. Prof Knight has an Hons BA (McMaster), MA (Dalhousie), PhD (York), and a LL.D (McMaster). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC) and is co-editor in Chief of both International Journal and African Security Journal - two prestigious globally recognized peer reviewed journals.
