The next class of the Research Supervisors Development Course(RSDC) will take place 24th - 26th April 2019 at the Institute for International Relations Board Room.

The course targets new and long serving supervisors of MPhil/PhD candidates who require training to improve the throughput of students and maintain the quality and integrity of the supervision and examination processes. The multi-disciplinary classes are usually held in January and April of each year but Departments and Faculties may request special offerings tailored to the discipline specific needs of their research programmes.

  • Overview of Graduate Supervision
  • UWI Supervision Regulations and Procedures, Plagiarism: Policy, Procedures
  • Library’s Role in Writing Theses and Supporting Research  
  • Student-centred Research Supervision: The Academic Perspective
  • Responsible and Ethical Supervisory Conduct
  • Student-centred Research Supervision: The Student Perspective
  • The Impact and Influence of the Supervisor
