What to Wear?
At The UWI, all undergraduate and postgraduate robes (with the exception of Doctoral candidates) are blue princetta while doctoral robes are red. *Non-degree graduates wear a calf-length scarlet gown. In this formal ceremony graduands are required to wear academic dress as follows:
Female Graduands are currently required to wear white only. Dresses or long pantsuits are acceptable with black shoes having sensible heels since you will be standing for long periods of time.
Please note: short pants, skirts mid-thigh and above, and tight-fitted garments are unacceptable. Please be guided accordingly.
Male Graduands are required to use formal wear/dark lounge suits.

Rental of Academic Regalia
Once you have successfully applied to participate in the Graduation Ceremony, you will receive from October 1 2025, via your UWI email address and any other provided preferred email address, a link to collect your academic regalia along with other pertinent information during the period October 6th -11th & 13th – 15th 2025.
Payment Options are listed in the table below.
These payment options will be available from September 29, 2025.
You must only pay the amount which applies to your level of award and note that the Year Book Fee is NOT applicable.

NB: The preferred method of payment is via our Online Payment Facility.
1. Online Payment via the Student Portal (Mastercard or VISA Credit cards, International Debit Chip Cards and Trinidad & Tobago Debit Chip Cards)
1. Log on to the Student Portal at my.uwi.edu 2. Log on to mySecureArea 3. Select Student Services & Financial Aid 4. Click Student Records 5. Select FEE Pay 6. Follow steps from there to complete payment. Note: you can click in the field with the amount and change it to the desired figure. Once the payment is completed you will receive an email confirming payment. Please download and print the Confirmation Receipt 2. Using a Graduation Deposit Slip to pay the required amount ONLY for your rental of the Academic Regalia. The Undergraduate Yearbook fee is not applicable and should not be paid. Graduation Deposit Slips will be available at the St Augustine Campus Branch of Republic Bank from September 29, 2025 to October 15, 2025.
3. Payment can be also made on The UWI student bank deposit slip or general deposit slip using Account Number: 160 284 581 001 CHQ 1. The student’s name, address, and UWI Student ID number must be entered on the bank deposit slip. 2. The Bank Teller returns 2 copies of the UWI deposit slip or a validated print of transaction. 4. Payment through Internet Banking to the following bank account:
Republic Bank Limited
Please note: that UWI is now registered as a Bill Payee with Republic Bank Limited. When making payments using Republic Bank's Bill Payment service, please include the following email address in the email notification field on the payment site: STA-stubank@sta.uwi.edu Navigation: All request must be accompanied by a scanned copy of proof of payment (i.e FEE pay receipt, scanned deposit slip (front and back), successful notification page of online transfer which clearly identifies amounts transferred and the account to which the transfer was done. All payments must be made in full before the rental process can proceed. All transactions must be accompanied by a proof of payment/receipt which must be presented at the appointment.
Cash payments will not be accepted on site. |

Gown Rental Form |
You must review the form before printing to confirm your Name, UWI ID Number and Faculty Information. It will be sent as an attachment to your UWI Graduation Academic Regalia Rental Form submission receipt.
You can preview the completed form using the provided link. The amount that you are required to pay is included on the form and this must be paid; You or your representative must walk with this receipt when collecting.
Gowns/Hoods should be collected by the Graduand since it is necessary to obtain the correct fit.
Collection of Academic Regalia by someone else. If someone is collecting on your behalf, appropriate authorization must be provided using the UWI Graduation Academic Regalia Rental Form. Their Full Name (First and Last Name) as well as a valid form of ID must be included on the form.
Gowns, Hoods and Caps must be carefully examined on receipt from the Examinations Section. |

Gown Return and Refunds |
Return of Academic Regalia – Dates and Process The return period runs from Tuesday 28 October - Saturday 1 November, 2025 & Monday 3 November, 2025 from 9am to 6pm daily, at the Postgraduate Lounge, Teaching and Learning Complex (TLC). You must walk with the Gown Rental Receipt as well as the rented academic regalia, which will be checked to ensure that it is returned in good condition, then the quantum of refund will be determined. Gowns, Hoods and Caps returned in soiled or damaged condition may result in penalties or your refund being forfeited. Rental and cleaning charges are applied before the issuance of any refund upon return of the regalia.
You will be liable for the full retail price of the regalia in the event that the rented products are not returned. An Accounts Receivable Hold will be placed on your record if the University’s Academic Regalia is not returned.
