Samantha Joseph
Biography
Samantha C. Joseph is an MPhil/PhD Candidate at the Department of Economics at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Management (honors) and a Masters in Economics, specializing in International Trade an Econometrics. She has done extensive research in the areas of Migration; Remittances; Caribbean Diaspora and Economic Development and presented these at a number of conferences including the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance 41st Annual Conference in Guyana (2009) and the SALISES Annual Conference in Trinidad and Tobago (2010). She also served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Economics and Tutor in Statistics, Economic Statistics, Micro and Macro Economics and International Trade for the period 2008 to 2010.
Before her academic pursuits, she served as an Assistant Accountant at Chevron Texaco, St. Lucia in 2004 then lectured for a year at the Ciceron Secondary School in Castries, St. Lucia. Outside the doors of academia she is a motivational speaker with an emphasis on youth development.
