Counselling and Psychological Services

The student Counselling and Psychological Service (CAPS) offers a range of services including crisis intervention, diagnostic assessment, therapy for individuals, couples and families. The number and frequency of sessions is determined individually, largely based on what the student finds most helpful. In addition, CAPS makes referrals for psychiatric assessment at the Eric Williams Medical Complex when appropriate, and assists students with medication management. All registered UWI students are eligible for the free and confidential services at CAPS. Students can phone or walk-in and make an appointment to speak with a Student Counsellor. Alternatively, a friend or member of staff may encourage a student to visit CAPS and assist him/her in making an initial appointment. Every effort is made to accommodate students in an emergency.
