WHAT'S THIS ABOUT ?

Do you have a business idea? Would you like to graduate from The UWI with a bankable business in your hand? Do you believe that there is an Entrepreneur inside of you? Does the idea of being an employee when you graduate get you down? This course in Entrepreneurship & Innovation will help you to overcome the key challenges facing new entrepreneurs including recognising and assessing opportunities, strategic positioning and selecting a business model.

 

 

IS THIS FOR BUSINESSS STUDENTS ONLY ?

If you have already started your own business or are in the process of doing so, then you’re already a business student! This course is open to Final Year undergraduate students only from the Faculties of Engineering, Social Sciences, Science and Agriculture and Humanities and Education, especially those who are already engaged in entrepreneurial activities or those who have an intense desire to be entrepreneurs. You can be one of the 30 students who will be admitted into the programme but you must act quickly and make a commitment.

 

 

WHAT ABOUT CREDITS, COURSEWORK AND EXAMS ?

This is a yearlong (September – April), 6-credit course. Assessment will be based on coursework (40%) and a practicum in the form of a business plan (60%).

 

 

WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF IT ?

The programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to turn your business ideas into sustainable entrepreneurial and innovative activities.  At the end of it all, each of you would be guided in the creation of a comprehensive and bankable business plan for a business concept of your own. After successful completion of the course, you will have access to even more resources from the Centre to help you to get your business off the ground.

WHERE WOULD CLASSES BE HELD ?

All classes will be conducted at the Institute of Critical Thinking, Top Floor, Centre for Language Learning.
