Overview

As we navigate the COVID-19 crisis, there is a heightened awareness that technical competence alone will not define organizational success. Instead, an effective response requires a multifaceted leadership approach.

This workshop will expose supervisors, business managers and leaders to practical strategies in Evolutionary Leadership. It will provide participants with tips and resources to inspire an effective and thriving work environment. Participants will learn how to recover, innovate and reinvent their roles; consciously evolve and adapt to the changing work environment; and become a catalyst for a productive, profitable, and engaged workforce.

Topics

The workshop is power-packed with concrete skills that will better equip supervisors, managers and business leaders to navigate the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic through the 3A's and 3C's of leadership. The workshop will:

  • Explore multiple leadership styles and evaluate leadership gaps 
  • Examine people performance standards 
  • Evaluate competence with quantitative and qualitative indicators
  • Apply core competencies for a high-performance leader
  • Develop the exemplary leadership attitude required to build a sustainable and flourishing working environment.  

The Facilitator

Mrs. Aka Ali-Kerr –Certified Coach in HR Leadership and Author of “The Master Guide to Leadership Through The Lens of Care”

Mrs. Aka Ali-Kerr is the HR Director at a global corporation and author of the well-recognized book entitled “The Master Guide to Leadership Through the Lens of Care”.  With over 20 years of HR experience in the Caribbean, Aka has been instrumental in developing and implementing HR strategies for many companies throughout the Caribbean. She is also a  John Maxwell Certified Coach, Trainer and Speaker, and has facilitated in several workshops and seminars on a variety of HR topics, including but not limited to Compensation, Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, Job Analysis, Employee Relations, Performance Management and Industrial Relations.

The workshop will be hosted by the Business Development Unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of the West Indies. You will be able to join this seminar via Zoom to participate in discussions, receive hands-on exercises, and interact with the facilitator. The seminar will follow the schedule below:
