CLIMATE CHANGE AND DENGUE
The UWI-HEU hosted a UWITv Broadcast titled “Climate Change and Dengue – The Health and Economic Impact in Trinidad and Tobago”, which was aired in May, June and November 2025, and featured an engaging virtual panel discussion examining how climate variables influence dengue transmission and the resulting socio-economic burdens.
Moderated by Ms Haleema Ali-Sisbane, Project Specialist at the UWI-HEU, the sessions brought together a distinguished panel comprising Mr. Kishan Kumarsingh, Head, Multilateral Environmental Agreements, Ministry of Planning and Development, Trinidad and Tobago; Ms. Emilia Carrera, Director of Health, The Rockefeller Foundation; and Mr. Roger Mc Lean and Mr. Samuel Gabriel, Research Fellows at the UWI-HEU.

TOBACCO TAXATION: A WIN, WIN, WIN, WIN POLICY
The HEU, Centre for Health Economics hosted a virtual seminar entitled " Tobacco Taxation: A Win Win Win Win Policy’ where information on ‘Experiences and Implications for Public Health, Environmental Protection, Resource Mobilization and Equity’ were shared. The session was conducted on October 19th, 2023 at 10am (AST). The Presenter was Professor Patricio V. Marquez, a former Lead Public Health Specialist for the World Bank Group, and a recent recipient of the title of Honorary Professor from The University of the West Indies.
