About The UWI

The UWI Strategic Plan

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is presently in the process of preparing its 2017-2022 Strategic Plan, with its main theme “Revitalizing Caribbean Development”. The mission of The UWI for the next five years is to advance learning, create knowledge and foster innovation for the positive transformation of the Caribbean and the wider world.

To achieve this mission the Vice Chancellor, Sir Hilary Beckles has outlined a Triple A strategy to allow the regional University to actively engage in all of the main issues facing the Caribbean. The UWI Triple A strategy focusses on Access to tertiary education, Alignment of industry and academia for wealth creation and distribution and Agility to global opportunities.

The UWI is committed to strengthening Caribbean economic development while expanding its brand and reputation to the wider world.
