Auxiliary Equipment
Tissue chopper: for preparing sections of tissue, for metabolic experiments and especially applicable to small and irregular specimens available at biopsy or from small organs.
Low speed diamond saw. For cutting a wide variety of materials with minimal subsurface damage. Its low speed makes it possible to cut fragile materials that would otherwise fracture and soft materials that would load the diamond wheel on a higher speed saw.
Zeiss Disecting microscope with fiber glass illumination module: for disecting small specimens
Digital Photo scanner: For Scanning and enlarging Negatives and Prints
Digital photo printer: Dye sub printer for printing images and reports in photo lab quality and less chance of fading.Images comes out dry.
Light Microcsope with moticam 10.0 mp camera: for viewing slides in preparing specimens.
Glass knife maker: For making glass knives for the ultra microtome.
Ultra microtome: used for cutting extremly thin slices of material, known as sections. The typical thickness of these cuts is between 40 and 100 nm for transmission Electron Microscopy.
Vacuum oven: Used in preparing samples for the TEM in making resin molds to get the air out of the molds.
Sputter coater: For SEM preparation of sample . sputters gold on the sample to conduct the Electron beam
Critical point dryer: The samdri 795 critical point dryer (CPD) is a semi-automatic CPD for drying soft tissue samples used in SEM preparation.
