Dr. Preeya Mohan Honored with Prestigious Saleemul Huq Scholarship

Dr. Preeya Mohan was selected as one of the 25 recipients to be awarded the prestigious Saleemul Huq Scholarship, for her climate action research.  This groundbreaking initiative supports innovative research on climate action, with a specific focus on locally led solutions. The scholarship honors the legacy of Dr. Saleemul Huq, a champion for addressing "loss and damage." As the sole representative from the Caribbean, she will contribute to this crucial global effort, focusing particularly on our region's pressing climate challenges.

Dr. Mohan will be exploring the severe consequences of Hurricane Maria and Tropical Storm Erika on Dominican businesses and communities. The research is geared towards engendering locally driven solutions to mitigate the country’s private sector vulnerability to intensifying extreme weather events. She intends to use the Dominica case study to delve into issues related to building a more resilient and sustainable future. Her research will explore innovative approaches, investment in climate-friendly practices, and the potential of leveraging digital technologies.

Congratulations Preeya!
