Patrick K Watson is Professor Emeritus at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine where he served, until retirement in September 2017, as Professor of Applied Economics and University Director at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies. Professor Watson also served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences from 1995 to 2003. He holds Master's and Doctoral degrees in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the Universite de Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with Accounting as a principal subject, from the University of Leeds. Over Professor Watson's career, he served as Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission, Chairman of the North-West Regional Health Authority, Deputy Chairman of the Regulated Industries Commission, Director of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, and member of the Board of Directors of the International Organization of Securities Commissions. He specializes, and is published widely, in empirical studies related to the Caribbean Economy.

Qualifications

  • Master's and Doctoral degrees in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the Universite de Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne)
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree, with Accounting as a principal subject, from the University of Leeds

  • April 2017-Present: Chairman, Trinidad and Tobago National Accounts Committee.
  • January 2017-April 2017. Consultant on project Economic Cost-Benefit Analysis of Underwater Art Installation in Tobago.
  • August 2018-February 2019 Consultant to Central Financing Facility of Trinidad & Tobago
  • August 2018-present Consultant to the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten for the construction of Macro-Economic Models for Forecasting and Policy Analysis for Curacao and for Saint Martin.
  • January 2019-Present Consultant on Review and Update of National Tourism Policy 2020 of Dominica, Tourism Master Plan 2012-2022 of Dominica, and Discover Dominica Authority Corporate Strategy and Action Plan.
